Federal and Territorial Building: Photographs depicting the construction of the Alaska State Capitol

Construction for the State Capitol began in 1929 by the Chicago based N.P. Severin Building Construction Company. These photographs documenting its construction were taken by the company's accountant, Louis Delebeque.

Delebeque came only after the company promised that his next construction job would take him to Hawaii. Instead, Delebeque met Roberta Gallwas of Juneau, married and eventually stayed. It is through their daughter, Katherine L. Smith that this collection of historical photographs became available.
