Skeleton Key & Red Fob, Occidental Hotel Annex

Description:
Silver colored skeleton key with red, slightly diamond—shaped fob. Fob is reddish brown wood with stamped print imbedded into it. Fob is 5 inches long and 2.25 incches wide at its widest. It is in shape of rounded, elongated diamond. Inscription states: "OCCIDENTAL / ANNEX / JUNEAU, ALASKA / OCCIDENTAL HOTEL CO. / PROP'S. / 56". Logo beneath circle. Outside border states: "IF CARRIED AWAY RETURN / UNSEALED". Center states: "BY MAIL POSTAGE / 2 CENTS". There is a hole in top of fob, through which brass double hook connects it to key. Key is silver skeleton key 3 inches by 1.375 inches. Brass connector passes through hole in rounded part shaped like 2 connected circles. Barrel of key is 2 inches long with mechanism on underside at last 0.5 inch. Where barrel connects to rounded portion, number "02" is stamped into metal.

The Annex operated from 1904 — 1930. The Occidental Hotel was owned by John Olds and located at Front St.
