Description:
A — 1.625 inch (including lid) x 2.5625 inch x 2.125 inch square red orange metal container with slip on lid. Container is silver color in interior and lined on inside with cardboard. Printing in white on all four sides and lid. "DUPONT" encircled with white oval border.
B — .3125 inch x 2.5625 inch x 2.375 inch lid.
Inscription: "100 Mo 6 Blasting Caps Dupont...Manufactured expressly for"
Notes:
Mr. Walther came to Juneau in 1935 from Nevada. He started work at the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co. Mine as "Bulldozer." In 1937 he worked as a hoistman finally becoming night time keeper in #2 office. In 1941 he became secretary of the miners' union. After Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co. closed in 1944 he drove a grocery truck; worked at the police station, attained rank of captain in 1959. Later he ran the jail, was Juneau's Civil Defense Director & worked at City Maintenance Shop. He died in 198_?
