Description:
a — 4.1875—inch by 3.9375—inch by 3—inch rectangular brown cardboard box. Drawing of miner with lamp on lid; drawiing of carbide lamp on side. Printing is in black and red. Stylized red half—circle pattern encircles both top and bottom of container.
b — 3.875—inch by 2.1875—inch small hollow cylindrical lamp (in two parts that screw together) of shiny brass. Top has small hinged lid. Next to lid is small lever with knob on end. Rounded top section has encircling slashed pattern half—way around with raised lettering above. Container tapers in middle and screws onto round hollow base with eight rectangular disc—shaped patterns encircling it. Bottom attached to black rubberized base. Attached to one side of top is 2.5—inch silver—colored concave section with serrated striking "flint" on one side. Opposing side has downward curving hook; below are two outward curving wires (hook used to attached light to hat). Writing in ink on inside cover flap.

b — "Auto—lite Reg. U.S.Pat Office"
