Description:
Home Needlework Stamping Outfit produced by Florence Publishing Co., Florence, Massachusetts.

A: Cardboard box top. Exterior face has black typed text reading: "Home Needlework Stamping Outfit \ PRICE 25 CENTS \ Directions for Stamping \ A smooth, firm surface is necessary for stamping. Place \ the perforated pattern on the goods and weigh down firmly \ to have the pattern smooth, and see that the smooth side of \ the pattern is uppermost. \ Take the felt pad, pour a little benzine on any smooth \ surface like a piece of glass or marble or porcelain; rub \ the end of the felt pad on the same and let it absorb a little of \ the benzine, then rub back and forth across the stamping \ compound. Now, go carefully over the perforations in the \ pattern, rubbing with a firm even pressure. If your pad is\ too wet, it will not work well; in that case, allow the excess \ of benzine on the pad to evaporate and try again. \ Before removing the pattern from the goods carefully \ raise one corner or end of the pattern and look underneath \ to see that the stamping show distinctly; if it does not, \ then replace the weights and go over such parts again as \ are still indistinct. \ Florence Publishing Co., Florence, Mass.". Text is within a double line boarder. All other faces are blank. Corners have broken and bends are weak. Interior faces have areas of blue staining.

B: Cardboard box bottom. All faces are blank. Three of the four corners have broken and bends are weak. Interior faces are stained blue.

C: Rectangular piece of blue stamping compound. The block is various shades of blue from black to bright royal blue depending on the side and wear. One face has a worn indentation, presumingly from where the felt cloth was rubbed repeatedly.

D: Roll of blue felt cloth held together by three pieces of pink string. One end edge of the coil is a darker blue than the other.

E: Piece of paper with black text on one side. Text reads: "Home Needlework Stamping Outfit \ PRICE 25 CENTS \ Directions for Stamping \ A smooth, firm surface is necessary for stamping. Text is within a double line boarder. Below the bottom of the boarder is additional text that reads: "We also can supply Stamping Outfit for stamping WHITE on \ receipt of 25x. In ordering mention color wanted.". The front and back of paper is stained blue. Paper is folded in half at center.

F: Rectangular piece of paper with stamping instructions. There are three paragraphs of black typed text on the paper, one for "How to Stamp with Powder", one for "How to Stamp with Fluid" and one for "How to Stamp with Cakes". At the bottom is there a minor heading of "TO CLEAN PATTERNS, USE GASOLINE". Along the lower edge is black text reading " FREDRICK HERSCHNER — 6457 Marshfield Ave." The lower proper left corner is missing. Paper has various blue stains throughout.
