Description:
A: Phonograph: Early 20th century Thomas Edison Disc Phonograph (record player). The console style record player includes the turntable on top, the horn enclosed at the center and a record storage cabinet at the bottom. Knob to record storage cabinet is metal and shaped like a rose. The phonograph runs by turning the crank on the side of the console. Console is most likely made of oak with a dark stain or mahogany. Phonograph is made of metal parts. Removable over bell (2012.50.001B) is made of wood and a yellow fabric (felt). Plays 80 RPM records.

C: Phonograph needle, metal. A metal hollow cylindrical piece with a movable shoulder attached to a metal disc. A needle extends from the metal disc. One side of metal disc is inlayed with wood. At the top of the woodend inlay text reads: "Violin SPurce / N.D. Tons" (?) At the bottom of the woodedn inlay there is an image of a volin and the text "Patented Oct. 12, 1929". Piece is either a spare or replacement part for the needle attached to the photograph or it is a special adaptor used to play 78 RPM records.
