Description:
A — 5.125 inches by 2 inches by 1.25 inches black painted hand level, also called Abney level or clinometer, consisting of rectangular housing (square cross—section) with adjustable glass bubble on protractor attached to one side. Tubular telescoping brass eyepiece extends up to two inches from viewing end. Opposite end has metal cross—hair; slot in top allows view of bubble.
B — 5.5 inches by 2.25 inches leather case with approximately 62—inch buckled carrying strap encircling case. Sewn from three pieces and tapered toward bottom, snap closure flap over top. "B.D. Stewart" in ink inside flap.
Inscription: "W & L.E. GURLEY, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON" on top
"SHORT & MASON, LONDON" "TYCOS" on side
