Description:
Small can of "Currin's Whale Oil Paste". Can has compression lid (like paint can). White wrap—around label w/ dark blue print. Whale oil paste is viscous dark brown paste, smells like creosote or pine tar.
Label inscription: "CURRIN'S / WHALE OIL (on picture of whale w/ ship behind) / WHALE OIL PASTE / GUARANTEED TO CONTAIN NO MINERAL OILS". Picture of logging boot w/ "CURRIN'S LOGGER".
Back label: "DIRECTIONS / WASH OFF THE SHOES WITH… / CURRINE—GREENE SHOE MFG. CO. / 2715 WESTERN AVE. SEATTLE 1, WASH."
Notes:
Belonged to and used by Thomas S. Parke, likely in 1930s and possibly 1940s Found in back of supply cupboard. Used for boots and other leather needing protection from outdoor conditions.
