Year Range to:
1990
Description:
Metal horseshoe. U—shaped piece of metal. Each of the ends bends upward into a flat edge; one horizontal, one vertical. A flat rectangular piece of metal extends from the bottom of the "U". There are five rectangular shaped holes along each side of the "U" and one circular hole at the bottom of the "U".
Notes:
Horseshoe is large. Used on a work horse. Paddles give the horse grip in heavy snow. During horse—drawn carriage days, snow on roads was rolled and packed flat and hard instead of plowed and cleared. The shoes gave the horse more traction. Henricksons kept work horses at homestead.
