Description:
Milled elliptical cedar salmon gillnet float. Bored 0.625 inch diameter hole through length of float. Straight grain.
A — Darker wood color — possibly creosote treated, slight smell of creosote.
B — Natural wood color — few rock grains embedded in cedar.
C — Driftwood color. Rounded ends. Few rock grains embedded in cedar.
Notes:
From collection of beach combed items collected by Thomas S. Parke.
Floats used on cork or float line of salmon gillnet. Majority of external wear from surf action when floats drifted ashore.
