Necklace w/ Beehive Rebekahs Pendant on Green / Pink Cord

Description:
Metal pendant in pewter—color of beehive featuring relief designs of bees, a lily, dove with olive branch and crescent moon with seven stars. On reverse "F", "L", 'T" in three corners, round seal of Independent Order of Odd Fellows with inscription around edge "We command you to visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan". Pendant on twined silky cord in green and pink, giving striped appearance.
Notes:
Used by Jeannette McLeod & Rebekahs in their ceremonies. The Rebekahs are women's auxiliary of the Independent Order of Odd Follows (IOOF). Items in this collection were on loan for summer 2003 exhibit "Solidarity, Secret Rites and Social Ties.
