Notes:
Tlinget carved frog bowl. The bowl was taken in trade by Gertrude Messerschmidt of the San Francisco Bakery (Second Street) c1907. Grease dishes or bowls were used for holding or serving rich foods such as candlefish or seal oil in which food was dipped. However, this particular dish seems to have only been used as a decoration.
