Capital Publishing Embossing Stamp

Description:
Embossing Stamp.
Frame of object is steel, painted black. Base is an elongated oval and attached to the body of the stamper with two rivets. A gold line of trim paint has been painted where the base meets the body of the object. Stamped on the bottom of the base in gold paint is the following: "Illegible / All Steel / Patent No. 1, 638,824". The body of the object is split into two legs. The bottom leg is attached to the base and holds a positive image of the stamp in a stationary position. The top leg holds a negative image of the stamp. A handle is attached to the top of the leg, which is spring loaded. Attached to the front of the handle is a large thumb switch that can be flipped down, when the handle is down, to hold the handle and top embossing plate in the down position. Printed on top of the thumb switch is the following: "PAT. JULY 12, 1920."

Attached to the front of the top leg is a bracket designed to hold an idetification label. It is printed: "PATD.JULY 31,23."

The stamp embosses the following, from top to bottom: "CAPITOL PUBLISHING COMPANY / INCORPORATED / SEAL / 1932 / ALASKA."
