Description:
Dark blue wool v—neck pullover shirt knows as a U.S Navy Dress—A Blues Blouse. V—neck leads to squared back flap with white embroidered stars on the corners. Shirt pocket PL chest, yellow embroidered bird in circle on a diamond—shaped navy blue patch sewn to PR chest, pointed yolk below V—neck opening back and front. Two—button cuffs, anchor design on plastic buttons. Three white stripes at collar and cuffs. Patch on PL sleeve of a white embroidered eagle, wings spread, over two crossed feather pens (?) and a red chevron. "Dapcevich, J.E." (Patch under back flap gives manufacturer and space for user's name) stencilled in white paint upside down inside cover front.
Notes:
Donor served in U. S. Navy 26th CB Battalion (C.B.= Construction Battalion, aka "Sea Bees".) Three stripes stand for the three battles in which the Navy beat the British. "Ruptured Duck" bird in circle is for honorably discharged veterans. On sleeve is patch of 3rd—class petty officer, equivalent to a sergeant in the army. Donor served 1944—1946. In August 1944, the 26th Battalion was re—designated as the 26th Battalion Sections One and Two. Section One was sent to Kodiak in September of 1944. Section Two was sent to Dutch Harbor.
