Winchester Model 90, .22 short caliber, pump—action rifle.
Octagonal barrel, wooden stock and pump handle. Serial number 832944 printed on receiver and tang behind the trigger. Tube fed magazine. Metal butt plate. Printed on the barrel in front of the rear site: "MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN / CONN. PAT. JUNE 26.88. DEC. 6. 92. NOV.27.06.MAY 30.1911 — MODEL 90—.22 SHORT."
Notes:
As per donors notes in document file, the rifle first appeared with the family in Ketchikan in 1935. Henrietta Blackwell, donor's mother, used it for hunting grouse, ptarmigan and rabbits in various places in southeast Alaska. Given to donor when he was 9, he used it for plinking and hunting grouse, rabbits and "unsuccessful" bounty hunting for eagles.

This is a late model production gun, some of these model 90s had round and some had octagonal barrels.
