Description:
Wood engraving with colored pencil of Dance Hat by Dale DeArmond. Print shows forward facing woman wearing a shawl and hat. Woman's cheeks are shaded with red pencil. Shawl is black with a red colored collar and an image of a bird shaded with blue—green, red, and orange pencil. Woman is wearing square blue—green earrings. Hat features a red, pink, and blue—green geometric design and has beaded fringe around brim. Print ink is black. Background of print is shades of orange and yellow. Decorative boarder around edge. Text written in pencil below decorative edge of print reads: "Dance Hat 1/25 D. DeArmond — imp c 95". The "c" is the copyright sign of a c with in a circle. Top edge of paper uncut/finished.

According to Certificate of Authenticity the image is of "a young woman, probably Tlinget, wearing a sewn felt hat with a band of bead work and bead dangles and a beaded frontlet depicting an eagle."

Certificate of Authenticity came with print and is located in accession file.
Hand pulled by artist from the original end grain maple block on an Ettan etching press at Sitka, Alaska on February 1995.
