A wanigan is a "small, portable house used as an office or shelter in temporary lumber camps." (Random House College Dictionary.) Word is in use in Pacific NW and W. Canada. Boat may also be called a scow, meaning a flat bottomed rectangular hull with sloping ends. Marie Darlin and the donor agreed this kind of boat was also used for fish buying.
