Description:
Cylindrical, heavy, squat, hollow iron nozzle. Base has rim approximately 1.5 inches high. One piece of base missing. Nozzle narrows to smaller opening than base.
Notes:
Hydraulic mining = placer mining using artificially created stream of water. Found at beginning of small trail that used to lead to Glory Hole in Silver Bow Basin. Area also site of "placer pit" where extensive hydraulic mining was done. Stream of water — narrowed down — when it reached to nozzles causing powerful stream of water. Directed at hillside to break up gold ore bearing gravel.
