Douglas Police Department Badge
Description:
Silver—colored badge with gold colored wash, circle with a ring around it and eagle on top, with the words "Patrolman Douglas Police Depart Terr of Alaska" Pinned inside a black leather wallet with snap closure. Back of badge has worn and dirty piece of white medical tape with the number "3" in blue ballpoint pen.
Notes:
Donor was one of the last policemen in Douglas. Council members were sworn in and given a badge...this one has a piece of paper on the back with a number and was handed out in 1972, although the word "terr." indicates it was originally from territorial days before 1959. Donor came to town in 1956.
