Title:
Sample to fit in cone—shaped mold for assay
Description:
A metal sample created from the assaying process and resting in the assay mold, 2005.22.152. It is gray colored and shaped like a cone with the bottom the narrow point. The end of the sample does not come to a point, but is actually cut off and indented and if turned over with the wide end down looks like a "volcano". It might be that this indented part of the cone rested the pure metal ore or gold.
Notes:
These cones are called a "prill."
