Tiny green decal—covered wood trout fishing plug. Steel wire loops for hook and line. Dark green dorsal and leading end.
Notes:
From Parke Family fishing gear. Plug used for trout fishing in fresh water. Collection of sport fishing gear (2002.11.012 — .077) used in Juneau area from mid—1930's through 1990's. Gear includes salt water gear, fly fishing, and casting or spinning tackle with assortment of lures, hooks, etc., used by family over the years. Spinning or casting for trout at stream mouths was favorite for Tom and Mary Ann (daughter). Salt water gear used primarily for salmon and halibut fishing. Samples of gear included in collection. Access nearly always via boat; fishing from main boat (Mist, Barbara V or Tiller Tramp) for salmon and halibut, fishing for trout in lakes or streams accessed by hiking from boat or casting at stream mouths from boat, skiff, or shore. Fish was canned or frozen for use throughout year and was major family food source. See canning equipment (2002.11). Much of equipment also used by guests on boat — many Juneau families and their guests participated in fishing outings on Parke's boats.
