Advertising token used by hotel in silver colored metal. Embossed on 1 side is "OCCIDENTAL HOTEL / JOHN OLDS / PROP / JUNEAU, ALASKA".
On reverse is: "Good for / 12 1/2 (small "c" for cent) / IN DRINKS". Raised outside edge. 2 fleur—de—lies decorate side with owner's name.
Notes:
Preserved by donor. Occidental Hotel was built in 1892 by John Olds and Morris Orton. It had 25 rooms, with hot and cold running water in each, billiard room, reading room, dining room and kitchen. After 1912, with closing of restaurant and other new hotels opening, business dwindled and hotel closed in 1931.
