Metal Shaving Kit Box
Description:
A — 1.9375" x 1.9375" x .5625" small square brass—washed silver box containing four shaving components. Box is hinged at back and divided in two equal parts. Lid has small round indentation on front edge for catch and lined with discolored green velvet. Bottom is divided in two partitions with thin cross—section of metal and lined with discolored green velvet and partially matted down from water—carried rust. Exposed edges of velvet are black and contaminated with corrosion from metal box. Velvet has crushed texture from previous water damage. Lower .5 of box has small raised round button on front, center and corroded remnants of catch mechanism.
B — 1.625" x 0.75" x 0.4375" small brass attachment forming 0.5 of razor head. Piece has three protruding cylindrical parts, center with screw threads for attachment to handle pieces. Piece is rectangular and has concave curve along longer axis of rectangle. Cylindrical parts are mounted to concave surface. Finish is brass with some corrosion on convex side with small white accretions. Concave side brass finish is mostly gone, showing underlying silver tone.
C — 1.625" x .9375 x 0.625"small attachemnt of razor set, meant to form 0.5 of razor head. Piece is rectangular in shape with 0.125" along longer sides separated in small metal teeth. Attachment is concave along longer axis and has three round holes down center meant to fit over 94.20.03 B. Center hole has additional shallow circular groove surrounding it. Concave side has imprinted letters in lower right corner. Surface is mostly brass with areas revealing underlying silver. Some edges have dark, possibly corroded areas.
D — 1.9375" x o.25" x .25"small cylindrical attachment of razor set, .5 of handle. One end has threaded screw which fits in base of handle. Above screw is a section which has overall embossed tiny diamond pattern. Above patterned section, piece is smooth and shiny with last 0.25" curved in and flared out to slight extent. Patterned section contains traces of green corrosion in grooves.
E — 1.6875" x 0.375" x 0.375" small hollow cylindrical attachment to razor, forms 0.5 of handle and is base of razor. One end of interior is threaded and fits with screw on other 0.5 of handle. First 0.375" of handle is smooth and shiny with slightly raised lip and small areas of corrosion. Next 0.5625" of handle is embossed with tiny diamond pattern. Next 0.25" is shiny and smooth with faint cylindrical rings. Rest of handle is three alternating areas of embossed diamond patterns with two thin bands of plain recessed brass. Patterned areas have traces of green corrosion in grooves.
Inscription: C — "GERMANY" on concave side
