Two Finger Ceremonial Dance Fans

Description:
A — Finger fan used for ceremonial dances. Central circle (4.5 inch diameter) made of interwoven plant strips (raffia?) with a concentric colored circle pattern (innermost to outermost: orange, neutral, purple, neutral). Ring of black fabric stitched with black thread around edge of raffia circle; fabric holds in place a wide fan—shaped border (ranging from approximately 4 inch long on sides to 8 inch long at top) of white—grey fur. Two wire loops wound in dark red thread affixed to bottom of raffia circle.

B — Finger fan, identical to A.
Notes:
From ANAC Cache; Marie Olson used to work for them. Dance fans are usually from the Yupik culture and the fur is often wolf.
