Description:
Beaded halibut figure in Tlingit design.

Northwest coast formline representation of a halibut. Front is primarily brown beads with a fringe tipped in blue. Figure has a mouth done with white beads and lips done in silver. The eyes are black with baby blue outline. Along the center of the piece are seven(7) opaque buttons representing the spine of the animal, ribs radiate off of the spine. There is an ovoid on the tale done in red with a two bead outline in baby blue.
The reverse is red felt with vestiges of the glue that once held a barrette down the center of the piece.
Notes:
Donor purchased from the artist when the artist was demonstrating on a ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway System. The donor was working as an interpreter on the ferry that year. Either 1990 or 1991. The donor removed a barette that was adheared to the back, framed it, and hung it on the wall in her kitchen for many years.
