Fly fishing reel in leather bag
A — 2" x 2 7/8" x 5" leather reel bag. Gray—green leather storage bag. On baseof case: "MARTIN / AUT' / FISH REEL / CO. / MOHAWK, N.Y." "28 / PAT. / APPL'LD / FOR." Brown woven fly fishing line w/ nylon leader. Rotating spring spool w/ ~ 2" winding level.
B — 5 1/2" x 4" 3/4" leather reel bag. Gray green leather storage bag. Cotton pull string w/ brass end caps threaded around top for bag. Front printed "MARTIN AUTOMATIC / FISHING REEL. CO / MOHAWK, N.Y."
Notes:
See 2002.11.012. Reel used by 3 generations of Parke family. Internet search indicated 1892 patent date.
Thoms S. Parke used reel in 1920's ~ 1980's. Reel likely beglonged to his father, Sidney T. Parke in North Dakota & brought to Juneau by Thomas in 1920's or 1930's. Daughter, Mary Ann, used reel during 1950's — 1970s.
Reel used for fly fising in lakes of SE Alaska, esp Juneau area
