Title:
13 doll parts from mining camps
Description:
Various parts and pieces of dolls. They consist of the ceramic heads and limbs and three whole ceramic bodies. They are labeled A—M and should be considered all of the same accession number.
"A": is a ceramic baby doll head which has been painted with dull earthy colors. On its back is a molded label, "600", "A6/0M", and "Germanis D.R.G.M."
"B": is a ceramic doll body withy no head and a white glaze finish.
"C": is a ceramic doll head with a ceramic bonnet that has a odd method of "spackling" of the clay into tiny sphericals. Also the piece is painted with earthy tones.
"D": is a ceramic doll head with hat and some faded painting. Also of note is a small line of gold paint around the edge of the hat.
"E": is a ceramic doll leg with an attachment for thread to the body at the hip. It has some paint on the shoe and sock.
"F': is a ceramic doll head with very little painting and a white glaze.
"G": is a ceramic doll arm which only extends to the elbow. It just has a white glaze.
"H": is a small ceramic body without the arms or feet. It has a white glaze and some painting on the head and face.
"I": is a ceramic doll leg that extends only to the knee and has a very rotund shape. It is a white clay with some brown glaze added to the foot and some lace design.
"J": is a ceramic doll leg with a hole at the thigh for attachment and painting all over .
"K": is a large fragment from a ceramic doll face. It appears to have attached to the head over the face area. It is painted and appears like a mask.
"L": is a stout ceramic doll leg with a small hole for attachment and the remnants of a metal pin still in inside. The piece is painted.
"M": is a very small ceramic doll with no arms and one foot missing. It is only painted on the head.
No measurements of size were taken because of the variety of objects shape, but the pieces are all smaller than 4 inches by 2 inches.
Notes:
Some are known as "Frozen Charlottes" check file for story.
Perhaps some of these doll heads are not parts of toy dolls, but of small statuary. Only further detailed analysis can tell.
