Description:
Fish pugh: a long tool consisting of a wooden handle and a metal base with a pointed hooked end.

Wooden handle, 45.25 inch; metal base, 15 inch (hook portion is 6.25 inch).
Notes:
Fish pughs were used to move fish while on board a ship by stabbing and tossing the fish, no longer used because of the damage done to the fish.

Gig is the preferred term according to Chenall, but locally it is referred to as a fish pugh.
