Description:
Color artist proof print of Dianne Anderson's "Sapsucker Hieroglyphics". The print is black, tan, yellow and red. The illustration is a wood pecker perched on a tree trunk. There are shapes on the trunk where the bird had already penetrated and pecked at the tree. The bird is mainly black outlined but has a red head and a red and yellow breast. The tree is gray, black and brown. The boarder is black, white and tan. In the white band of the boarder there are black Egyptian hieroglyphics. Below the lower proper right corner of the print is text handwritten in pencil reading: "Sapsucker Hieroglyphics c Alice's proof". The "c" is enclosed in a circle and is the copyright symbol. Below the lower proper left corner of the print is text handwritten in pencil reading: "Dianne R. Anderson Fall 94". Verso is blank. Paper is white and unfinished along the top and bottom edges.
Notes:
From Professor Alice Tersteeg's collection of original artist proof's of Dianne Anderson's work. Anderson was a student of Tersteeg at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) circa 1995. Tersteeg returned work to Anderson in 2014.
