Sadiron (Laundry Iron) with Cover and Handle

Description:
A — Heavy metal base with flat smooth bottom surface. One hole on each side for handle.
B — Metal cover nickel plated and shaped to fit base. Topped with curved piece attached by two bolts. Wooden handle has bolt each end. Smaller metal and wood piece below handle adjusts to fasten and release cover.
Inscription: A — Asbestos Sad Iron.
B — "———ed by The Dover Mtg. Co. / Dover O USA / Pat. May 22nd 1900".

Notes:
"Sadiron" is an older term for a laundry iron that is pointed at each end and has a detachable handle. Owned & used in home of Feusi family, the donor's parents.
