Round campaign button with red pacifist emblem (peace sign) over blue helicopter on white background. Pin on back.
Inscription: "PEACE & QUIET COALITION"
Notes:
Campaign button used by the Peace and Quiet Coalition during the citizens initiative process to cap numbers of flightseeing aircraft. Initiative filed during the spring of 2000 after two years of unsuccessful acknowledgement by the City Assembly of the flightseeing aircraft noise nuisance. The proposition in favor of capping flightseeing aircraft numbers failed in the October 2000 municipal election. The issue was extremely divisive within the community. The cruise ship industry led the campaign opposing the proposition.
Button used by and preserved by Mary Ann Parke.
