A: Pencil drawing of two men sitting in front of a totem shaking hands (bracing each other's arms). The men are surrounded by vegetation. The man on the proper right is a white man wearing a collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He is wearing a hat. He has mining tools (pick axe and shovel) in his backpack. A knife is on his hip. He holds a shovel in his left hand. The man on the proper right is a Native American man (Tlingit). He is wearing a headdress and cape. He has a full beard. He holds two staffs in his left hand. The totem has a stylized face on it and has an abstracted dove, the symbol for peace, on top of it. Handwritten text in the upper proper right corner reads: "Joe Juneau \ Meeting \ Chief \ Analash \ Back view —— with base \ the other sketch gives stylistic \ approach \ a finished sketch will \ be submitted by me on \ your request —". The upper proper left corner of the paper is missing.
