Description:
Large format salmon fly in frame.
2.25" x 3.5" salmon fly inside a walnut frame surrounded by four layers of matting. Around the black hook is silver tinsel, and royal blue and scarlet silk floss.

The silver tinsel section is divided into three equal sections each with a pair of jungle cock feathers underneath, and each butted with black ostrich herl. The tail is golden pheasant crest, and the butt is black ostrich herl. The wing is comprised of four Amhurt pheasant tippets in two pairs (back to back) outer shorter than inner, and toped with golden pheasant. The fly also includes a wood duck feather and a shorter red macaw tail feather.
Notes:
Artist Trevor Gong has been exhibiting his work in Juneau since 2000. He ties traditional flies used for steelhead, trout, and salmon fly—fishing. Gong mills and builds his own wood frames, and cuts his own mats. Gong considers collecting feathers as important as actually tying the flies.
