Sign of Steamship "Al—Ki"

Description:
Large rectangular gold and black sign with name "Al—Ki" in large letters in gold. Narrow gold band follows outline of sign with curves in top and bottom edge and flows out to straight line in center. 4 large holes drilled above and below "Al" and 2 holes above "Ki".
Notes:
Used by Karlo Kiviniemi and John Niemi (name shortened). Family arrived in Douglas around 1910. Karlo worked at Treadwell Foundry as carpenter and later for A.J. Mine Co. Mrs. Riply is descendant of Carlo and Ida Niemi (granddaughter?)
Sign was reportedly removed from "Ak—Ki", which was wrecked on Pt. Agustus 11/1/1917 (abandoned and then burned) by Winter & Pond.
