Description:
Metal portable lamp has red flaking paint exposing gray metal and burnt—ochre paint. Lamp housing contains head lamp consisting of two circular pieces of glass sandwiching chicken wire, 5 inches in diameter. Cover of lamp opens for bulb replacement; lamp proper and battery pack lid are one entity. Lid attached to base of four clamps, two on each side of rectangular base. On—off switch located on proper left. Brackets to hold two pins located between either set of clamps. Two "D" rings on top, one directly behind lamp head and one at rear of lid, were perhaps used to support handle for easier transport.
Notes:
Part of 1917 LaFrance fire engine, which was destroyed in 1940's by fire.
