Description:
Balance with two central brass columns supporting steel balance bar. On right and left sides shallow copper dish is suspended by three brass chains. Balance lock at bottom center is brass with ivory handle. Balance anchored on rectangular white marble base with screw bolt leveling device at each corner.
Inscription: "Gold standard balance. Howard & Davis Manufacturers. Boston, Mass. Full Jewelled" engraved on copper plate at center below balance bar.
