A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "Glacier from Auk[sic] Bay July 5 '54" in handwriting. The image shows a wide swath of water in the foreground extending all the way to the backgroud, where there is a far shore green with vegetation. Above this is a section of snowy mountain range, with three peaks visible. The flat blue surface of a glacier can be glimpsed directly under the central peak. The sky is a heavy leaden gray, threatening precipitation. The number "8" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
