Black and white photograph of a wooden aircraft hanger. The hanger has the text "Alaska Southern Airways" on its front and on a sign on roof line. The left side of the hanger is destroyed and is falling into the water. The roof is slanting and the hanger's floor and ramp are underwater. There is a float plane docked inside the hanger. Buildings, a ship and tree covered mountains in background. Water and a section of wooden dock in the foreground. The damage to the hanger was caused by a storm.

Verso has a stamped number "8" in the lower proper right corner in blue ink. Handwritten in black ink is text reading: "This is 5,500 lbs of roof on one lone Stinson NC—991—W. The whole outside wall fall out." The Stinson NC—991—W is the kind of float plane inside the hanger.
