Description:
Black and white photograph of two men standing and shaking hands. Man on proper right is a young man dressed in Navy Blues and is William George Meeker, Jr. S2 USNR V—6 (Seaman Second Class, US Navy Reserve). The man on the proper left is an older man dressed in a coat, scarf and hat. Photograph is taken in 1942. Photograph has a white boarder. Center in the lower boarder section, the date "1942" is written in ink. Corner of house background. Verso has "459" stamped in black ink. Below and orientated opposite of the number "Billy Meeker / + / an old friend / 1942" is written in pencil.
Notes:
William G. Meeker, Jr., S2C USNR V—6, was stationed on the USS Juneau CL—52 which sunk on November 13, 1942. Meeker was lost at sea. Collection includes photographs, news clippings, and letters written by Meeker to Winefride Blohm.
