Large format black and white photograph of South Franklin Street taken from penstock above Gastineau Avenue.
Photo of buildings and wooden dock along the Juneau side of the Gastinueu Channel. Tree trunks and plants horizontally line the foreground of the photograph. The trunk of a tree runs vertically along the proper left edge of the photograph. In the lower corner on the proper left, the words "#3 — May 1 — 21. / E.P.P." Houses and buildings horizontally line the bottom third of the photograph including the Alaska Auto and Supply Co. and the Pacific Steamship Co. The Gastineau Channel cover the middle third of the photograph. The landscape of Douglas Island covers the remaining third of the photograph. The words "TAKEN FROM SPOUT OF PENSTOCK" are written horizontally across the top of the photograph in black ink.

Reverse is labeled in purple, fushia, and black ink with a series of similar stamps with varying dates and signatures. The stamps on the reverse resemble the following two layouts: "In Cause no. ___________ / ___________ Clerk / By ___________ Deputy" and "____ Exhibit No. ____ / Received in evidence".
