Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "Soap Box Derby 1949 July 17" in handwriting. The image shows a long paved road, adjacent to the lower slopes of a mountain, extending into the background. On either side of the road is a large crowd, also extending into the background. At left there is a small building. Black, white, and red flags line the road on poles above it. A small soap box car is visible in the center, coming toward the foreground, where a man with a checkered flag crouches toward the right. The number "3" is imprinted on the frame at the upper left.
