Place:
Juneau, Alaska
Date:
July, 1955
Year Range from:
1955
Year Range to:
1955
Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "3 Sciner's[sic] gastineau channel July 1955" in handwriting, possibly meaning "schooners," judging from the vessels in the image. The image shows a wide swath of water, the Gastineau Channel, with mountains framing it on either shore and shrouded in mist. Toward the left shore, three vessels (schooners?) are sailing very close together in the direction of the camera. A red buoy is visible in the center of the waterway. The number "23" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
