Title:
Two photographs of Floyd Dryden & Nannie Lyle, 1919
Place:
Juneau
Date:
01/01/1919
Description:
Two black and white photos of Floyd & Nannie Dryden affixed to oblong L—shaped piece of thick brown paper. Handwritten in white on backing paper: "Two views of the old man and the old woman." Handwritten in black ink below that: "Floyd Dryden Nannie Lyle 1919". Quotation marks and the letter H appear in the lower proper left corner, apparently part of a longer phrase that was cut off. Paper appears to be cut out of scrapbook page; partial remains of three photographs are affixed to back, with the captions "School marms" and "J.D. Long Hot springs S.D." Central photo on back shows two women and the neck and shoulder of a third; proper right photo on back shows someone's legs.

A — Rectangular photo, 2.5" x 3", shows Floyd & Nannie standing on dirt—like surface on proper right edge of foreground. "1919" written at top of photo. Backdrop shows hillside with scattered trees behind a cluster of houses and flat—roofed buildings. Subjects are facing each other; Floyd, on proper right, wears dark—colored suit; Nannie wears white long—sleeved dress and white high—heeled shoes.

B — Oval photo, 2" x 3", shows Floyd & Nannie standing on a boarded surface in central foreground with railing immediately behind them. Backdrop shows a body of water bordered on proper left by hillside and trees. Subjects are facing each other; Floyd, on proper right, wears dark—colored suit and hat and holds a magazine under his right arm; Nannie wears a dark—colored hat, jacket, skirt, and high—heeled shoes, and stands with her right hand on hip.
