A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "Steven's [sic] Passage South of Juneau May 22 53" in handwriting. The image shows a wide swath of water from the foreground to the middling area of the image. In the distant background there is a line of snowcapped peaks with a low layer of cloud cover. A group of birds is flying toward the right of the image. At the upper left, there is a red triangular flag, indicating this image may possibly have been taken from the stern of a seagoing vessel. The number "1" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
