Artist's Note:
Devils Paw, with a summit of 8584 feet, rises above the Juneau Ice Field and is not only the highest peak in the area but also a landmark that distinguishes the US—Canadian border. Michaels Sword, a good example of a "horn" or a rock formation carved by the erosive actions of a glacier, juts up from the ice like an upside—down tooth beside the much more massive Devils Paw, and is an objective many climbers aspire to. New September snow adorns the peaks as the setting sun ads color to the land and sky. The Juneau Ice Field is composed of an accumulation zone surrounded by nearly 30 glaciers and is larger than the state of Rhode Island. Canon EOS 1DsMark2, 35mm, F5.6, 1/250 sec. year:2006
