Color photograph in horizontal view of a women in sun hat and single strap gown on a parade float. The woman is wearing a light blue dress and holds a bouquet of flowers in her lap. The foreground are "flowers" made from kleenex. On proper left is visible a row of Tlinget dressed in traditional regalia with two(2) Chilkat blankets visible. A building front and mountain ridges are in the background. On reverse side handwritten in ink: "Jean Overstreet Statehood Parade July 4 — 1959 Juneau AK".
Notes:
Jean is on the "Soroptimist" foat for the statehood parade. The Soroptimist's are a business and professional women's organization . They are no longer in existence here in Juneau. Jean is a life member. She is riding on top of a VW bug that has been covered by flowers made from different colored kleenex. She remembered that is was very cold that day. She thought the photo might have been taken in front of the subport.
