Black and white photographic print of a boat docked. There are three men standing and working on deck at the stern of the ship. There are two men on the dock, one standing and one sitting, along with five barrels. The ship has an American flag on its mast at center. A painted star, circle and stripe is on the cabin's roof. "US AAF P 510" is on the exterior side of the cabin. Water in background. Grass covered land in lower proper left corner. Photograph was a white boarder around all four sides.
Verso has handwritten text in black pen along upper edge approximately center. Text reads: "P—510 IN FINGER BAY".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
