Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Auke Beach 1959" in handwriting. The image shows a lateral view of a long stretch of sandy beach, with a sliver of the water line visible at right, and what appears to be a cement wall abruptly stopping the tree line above the beach at left. The beach extends far into the background, as does the adjoining tree line. Immediately at left in the foreground is a knot of gnarled driftwood, towering over the figure whose back is to the camera at the center foreground. In the center of the image, two people dressed in scuba gear stand on either side of a silver inflatable raft, holding each end of it. The number "14" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
