Description:
Black and white photograph of man in Navy Blues squatting behind dog. Man is William George Meeker, Jr. S2 USNR V—6 (Seaman Second Class, US Navy Reserve). Photograph is taken in 1942. Corner of house and fence in background. Photograph has a white boarder. In lower proper left corner of boarder the date "1942" is written twice, once in ink & once in pencil. Photograph has a tear just above center on proper left edge extending into picture. Other creases/cracks found along proper left edge and corners. Verso has "1180" stamped in black ink. Slightly below and next to stamped number "Billy Meeker / 1942" is written in pencil.
Notes:
William G. Meeker, Jr., S2C USNR V—6, was stationed on the USS Juneau CL—52 which sunk on November 13, 1942. Meeker was lost at sea. Collection includes photographs, news clippings, and letters written by Meeker to Winefride Blohm.
