Description:
A: Envelope to hold negatives. Labeled: "12/4/54 Whittier".
B: Negative in vertical view of a studio interior, with a young girl standing at a small table with adjoining chair. She wears a collared dress, short sleeved and pleated at the waist. Her short hair is parted right. Her hands are folded on the surface of the desk. She is photographed at half length, so only the top of the desk—chair is visible. Her body is facing front, but her gaze is to the right of the camera.
C: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that her hands are parted and her gaze is slightly farther to the right.
D: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to negative "B."
E: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that she leans forward slightly and smiles.
F: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to negative "D," except that her smile is much wider.
G: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative except that she no longer smiles, her head is turned farther to the right of the camera, and is slightly cocked.
H: Negative in vertical view of a different girl, younger, perhaps a little sister. She wears a dress with a bib—type collar and her hair is cut short in a square like frame around her face. She leans on the surface of the desk—chair, elbows folded upon it, gazing to the right of the camera. She is in half length.
I: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative except that she looks directly at the camera, smiling.
J: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that the image is wider, more of the desk—chair is visible, and the girl's gaze is slightly to the left of the camera. She appears to be laughing.
K: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that her gaze is again to the right of the camera, and she smiles.
L: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, again showin in half length, leaning on the edge of a padded tabletop. The tabletop occupies the foreground, with the girl's arms folded atop it. Her gaze is to the right of the camera, and she smiles.
M: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that she looks directly at the camera, smiling.
N: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that her gaze is to the left of the camera and she is not smiling.
O: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to negative "L."
P: Negative in vertical view of a different girl, dressed identically to the previous one. This girl is about the same age, but with closely cropped curly hair. She is shown in three quarter length, leaning on the surface of the desk—chair with arms folded atop it. Her gaze is slightly to the right of the camera, and she smiles.
Q: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative except that her hands are folded and fingers laced together.
R: Negative in vertical view of the same same girl, now on the other side of the desk—chair, so that the camera is on her right side. Her hands are extended outward on the surface of the desk—chair, and she looks directly at the camera.
S: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to the previous negative.
T: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, the camera now shifted directly in front of her, showing her in half length with her arms folded atop the desk—chair. She looks directly at the camera, smiling.
U: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to negatives "R" and "S," except that her arms are folded and her gaze is slightly to the left of the camera.
V: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative except that her arms are extended outward.
W: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to the previous negative.
X: Negative in vertical view of a different girl (possibly the same one from negatives "B" through "G," since the hair styles are identical) in a long sleeved, buttoned, collared blouse and short hair parted right. She leans upon the surface of the desk—chair, hands folded and fingers laced. She is shown in half length and her gaze is to the left of the camera.
Y: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, the camera shifted slightly to the left. Her left hand is positioned under her right, and her gaze is farther to the left of the camera.
Z: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to the previous negative.
AA: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged identically to the previous negative.
BB: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, the camera shifted left to capture her right side. Her right hand sits on top of her left, and her gaze is to the right of the camera, and she smiles.
CC: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to negative "AA," except that she looked directly into the camera.
DD: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, now seated on an unseen surface. She is photographed in three quarter length, so her plaid skirt is now visible. Her body faces forward, but her head is positioned to the right of the camera, as well as her gaze. She smiles.
EE: Negative in vertical view of the same same girl, again leaning on the surface of the desk—chair, the camera capturing her right side. Her right hand rests atop her left, and her gaze is to the right of the camera. She is smiling widely.
FF: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, arranged similarly to the previous negative, except that the image is closer and narrower, and she appears to be laughing.
GG: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, the camera shifted to the right, almost directly in fron of her. She stands upright, hands folded. Her gaze is to the left of the camera.
HH: Negative in vertical view of the same girl, the camera shifted back left slightly. She leans against the desk—chair, right arm resting on her left. Her gaze is to the right of the camera, mouth parted.
